1. Before the operation:

In case of an operation I ask you to contact me or my team in advance so we can inform you and gather information about some important facts:

  • Your medication: especially anticoagulants like Thrombo Ass, Plavix, Clopidogrel, Elixia, Xarelto Pradaxa Marcoumar or similar
  • Possible allergies
  • Possible contagious diseases like hepatitis
  • Procedure of your Operation

 

2. After the operation:

When being discharged from the hospital, you will receive a personal letter containing all informations needed.
Important after hemorrhoid operations:
Please take the prescribed medication as told in order to reduce the risk of any postoperative complication!
If an edema or hemorrhage occurs, please contact me immediately!

 

3. Colonoscopy – Instructions for the preparation

To achieve an optimal cleaning of the bowl, please follow our instructions exactely!
5 days before the examination:
Please avoid raw food, salads, fruits, whole grain products, cereals or else like. Pasta, potatoes, fish and meat are allowed.

The day before the examination:
You may have breakfast and a light lunch.
Start the preparation between 14.00 and 16.00. No more solid food allowed!
Follow the instruction of the preparation product you got.

Please stick to transparent liquids like tea, water or isotonic sports drinks. No milk products allowed.

On the day of the examination
Please take your usual medication with a small amount of water! You may drink up to 4 hours before the examination.
Tell us, if you take any of the following medication and why: Marcoumar, Plavix, Clopidogrel, Efient, Brilique, Asasantin, Xarelto.

We recommend the examination under Propofol sedation, making you relaxed and pain free. Please consider that after the sedation, driving a vehicle is not allowed by law.

 

4. Preventive coloskopy

Early detection can save your life!
In case of unclear abdominal disorders a coloscopy is a necessary examination.

During the examination the whole large intestine can be looked at and biopsies can be taken. This allows a quick diagnosis and therapy to feel well again soon.

Colon cancer is the most frequent type of cancer and coud be prevented by a colonoscopy every 5 to 7 years, depending on your personal risk. I recommend the first examination at the age of 40.
